Under founder and Artistic Director Jeffrey Skidmore, it is known for its vibrant performances and passion for seeking out not only the best, but the unfamiliar and unexpected, in the choral repertoire. Since its formation in 1969, Ex Cathedra has grown into a unique musical resource, comprising specialist choir, vocal consort of ten voices, period-instrument orchestra and thriving education programme. In addition to its own subscription series in Birmingham and London, Ex Cathedra has performed at the BBC Proms, Lufthansa Festival of Baroque, Spitalfields, Three Choirs, York Early Music, Lyon Early Music, Warwick Festival, Vantaa Baroque, Bremen, Dresden, Lourdes, Bruges and Kilkenny Early Music Festivals.
